Do you have an idea for an app? Here are 7 key ideas

Share article

We've put together 7 ideas that we think are important to think about before you start creating an online business.
Do you have an idea for an app? Be sure to think about these basic topics before you get started.

Get clear on your goal
It sounds very trivial, but it's often not very clear. What is the goal of the project? What is your goal? What do you want the project to address? How will you present it to the user in a few seconds? A solid foundation in the form of a well-clarified goal is absolutely key.

Be clear about what you are selling
When you're selling online, think about what you're actually selling. What specific problem are you solving? How much time will the service save? What does it bring to the table that is original?

Realizing that you're not selling that app, that particular software, but you're actually selling a solution to a particular problem can revolutionize the perception of the entire online business.

People don't care how sophisticated a feature is or how original it is. Users will look at an app selfishly - what problem can it solve for them?

Address a specific narrow target group, not the entire market
When starting an online business, it's usually far more successful to focus on a narrow target group of people who are solving a specific, concrete problem. It is these people that you can usually deliver a service that they lack.

As the app grows you can expand the target group, improving it for a wider range of users. But in the beginning, it's a good idea to start with a narrow target group.

The goal of the business is to make money
A common problem with business is the notion that you're doing a service for people and money is secondary. Sure, a pro-customer approach and the perfect product are at the top of the list, but it has to make economic sense. Few people will want to work for your business for free, and you can hardly deliver a quality service without having the capital to build your business.

Control over business
It can be very convenient and tempting not to worry about who owns your data and who has absolute power over your business. Unfortunately, it's not often that Instagram or YouTube, for example, deletes a business owner's account for inappropriate content. Try to diversify and don't rely on a single platform. Think - will our business collapse if one or the other platform shuts us down?

Unique ideas don't exist
Unique ideas are almost non-existent. What makes most ideas unique is the execution. People often overestimate that the uniqueness of an idea is an advantage. It can also be a big disadvantage because they may simply not be interested in the business or are targeting a very small market.
Execution counts, and interesting businesses emerge from innovating good old fields and continually improving what already exists.

Do I really need investors?
Looking for investors at a stage when I have nothing in hand may not be profitable. Imagine what a founder looks like in the eyes of an investor who has an idea, but doesn't invest any of his or her own money to make it happen. Isn't that weird? Does he even believe in his idea?

You can usually negotiate far better terms if you make the initial investment in the online business out of your own pocket. Development can be phased today, marketing can be done very effectively thanks to social media. Why not take advantage of this?
